Academic Life
Houston Christian High School is a college preparatory school dedicated to the highest academic standard for the development of moral character, the enrichment of spiritual lives, and the perpetuation of growth in Chistian ideals.
Enhancing the above mission statement, HCHS is also dedicated to inspiring young people to lead by uniting faith, intellect and gifts to reach their greatest promise. Promise is merely potential until it is fulfilled. Nurturing promise into purpose is the passion of the faculty at HCHS. Rigorous academics challenge students who, supported by caring teachers, mentors and role models, rise to meet those challenges and lead.
Classes at HCHS are challenging. you can choose between regular, pre-Advanced Placement and AP classes. if you feel you need more of a challenge, you can adjust your schedule to handle the work. Most importantly, HCHS provides an endless amount of college advice and support."

The Distinguished Scholars Program, the Advanced Placement Program, our unique travel program (Beyond These Walls), designed to extend learning outside of the classroom and our Passport to Lead Program all work in harmony to offer the HC student a level of academia rarely evidenced at the secondary school level.
Spiritual Life is designed to build wisdom, knowledge and understanding of the truths of scripture through study, worship and service. The performing and visual arts flourish at HCHS. Our concert choir, bands and orchestra travel internationally and win numerous local and state competitions each year. The dramatic arts program produces Shakespearean works, Broadway-type musicals and a spring play.
Leadership development is a distinct and intentional facet of every student's training at HCHS. The Passport to Lead Program is designed to build students into leaders and is based on 16 leadership principles found within five dimensions of leadership: spiritual, personal, interpersonal, managerial, and organizational. The program is taught through curricular instruction and activities integrated into every subject.
Promise is a seed that lies within. The best Christian education takes that promise, tends it, and turns it into purpose. When students learn with purpose, they become adults who live and lead with meaning.
